Mule Notes
A note printed with different size plate numbers, a macro (1mm) on one side and
a micro (0.6mm) on the other.
Star Notes
A note with a star next to the serial number. These are rare with less than
1% of printed notes bearing a star. They a produced on the occation when
a sheet of notes is destroyed or misprinted. The same serial numbers as the
destroyed sheet are reused but now have the start next them.
Fractional Notes
A note with face value less than $1. These were printed during the civil war
when metal was scarce and coins were taken out of circulation.
Educational Notes
"Educational Notes" is the informal name for a special series of United States
Silver Certificates printed in 1896.
